TPU

TPU, or thermoplastic polyurethane, is a versatile and technologically advanced plasticmaterial that has a range of uses thanks to its unique properties.

TPU is an elastomeric material that combines flexibility, durability, and formability. TPU is used in medical technology to create flexible tubes, hoses, seals and implants. It is biocompatible and can be sterilized. TPU is also often used to make protective cases as it protects against scratches and bumps.

TPU can be made from up to 90% renewable raw materials and can also be recycled relatively easily; but it is not compostable.

Injection molding TPU

TPU is a thermoplastic material, meaning it becomes soft and shapeable when heated and hardens when cooled. Therefore, injection molding of TPU is a common and efficient manufacturing process used to create a variety of products. The raw material may contain color pigments and other additives if the product is to be colored or have special properties. The manufacturers of the material provide technical data sheets (TDS) with both properties and recommended process parameters described.
